Potassium is an essential nutrient for plants and is required in large amounts for growth and reproduction. It is the second most required nutrient in plants, after nitrogen, and has an effect on the shape, size, colour, and taste of the fruit. Furthermore, it is involved in the regulation and closing of stomata, regulating CO2 and water absorption (osmoregulation).
